What are Gyoza Dumplings?

Gyoza dumplings are popular side dishes in many Oriental countries as well as in North America. Also known as Japanese potstickers, gyoza dumplings are the Japanese version of Chinese “jiaozi” dumplings.

Gyoza dumplings are filled with vegetables and a choice of minced meat, encased in a thin dough wrapping.

To seal the dumpling, the wrapper is sealed together by “crimping” the edges.

The dumplings are then lightly flavoured with soy and salt.

Dainty and delicious, gyoza dumplings make a perfect appetizer or side dish for any meal.

To cook gyoza dumplings, Japanese chefs traditionally use the following ingredients:

Filling:

  • Pork
  • Shrimp
  • Napa cabbage
  • Chinese chives

Gyoza wrappers:

  • Ginger
  • Garlic
  • Salt
  • White pepper
  • Vegetable oil
  • Sesame oil
